Hi my name is Rosie and I am a freelance illustrator based in Chichester, West Sussex. I live with my husband Richard and our lop eared dwarf rabbit Coco. I work in my home studio in Birdham, and when the sun is shining I love to get out in the garden to work with Coco bunny hopping around my feet.
I trained at Northbrook College in Worthing and gained my HND in illustration in 2003. During my training I began to develop my style of creating my illustrations through line drawings which I then colour digitally using a blend of flat colour and collage. I’m always looking for different materials and textures to use in my next project. I also make and use my own paper from time to time.
I have a simple style and enjoy drawing animals turning them into fun characters. My first big commission was for the Girl Guides, creating ‘How to’ illustrations for their Brownie Annual. Since then I have worked on a number of projects including in house advertising for John Lewis and logo design for local businesses.
I have recently been transferring my images onto ceramics using decals and I am now making my own range of homeware. I sell these at local craft fairs and in my online shop, along with greeting cards, tags and prints.
I can also personalise these items for individual customers. For example, I create a character of a family pet using photographs as reference for my drawings which then can be transferred onto bowls, mugs, coasters etc. making a lovely gift.
I design cards, invitations and prints for a range of uses and again enjoy personalising them for individual customers.
