Ocean Waves Suncatcher WIPs

Here's a look into my copper wire work process making this large framed ocean waves hanging window decoration. Three waves are adorned with watery gemstones and glass beads, capturing the colour palette of the sea from the dark depths of the ocean up to the sea foam and crests of the waves. The shapes of the waves are echoed at the rear of the piece, where the contours of the copper wire help to provide stability to the design. With several metres of copper wire wrapping the beads onto the frame, once complete the raw copper piece is then oxidised, polished to reveal the metallic coppery highlights and given a generous glossy varnish.
